If you have sensitive skin and want to experience the revolutionary effects of non-surgical aesthetic treatments, then you may have spent an inordinate amount of time wondering if they are suitable for your skin type. This is a perfectly reasonable concern to have, especially when you have to be mindful of every product you put on your skin, but any notion suggesting you need to avoid aesthetic treatments as standard if you are living with sensitive skin is in fact a myth.

At The LUXE Clinique, we believe in assessing the condition of each client’s skin before treatment to determine what will work for your needs, and your skin type. But, to dispel any preconceptions about which treatments you may be able to access, we have created a guide on the nature of sensitive skin, and why some aesthetic treatments may help rather than harm skin with sensitivities.

What causes sensitive skin?

Sensitive skin can arise from a variety of factors, both internal and external. It’s often more reactive and prone to irritation, which can make it difficult for people to find suitable skincare treatments.

Common causes of sensitive skin include:

  • Genetics: Some people are genetically predisposed to have more sensitive skin. If you have family members with sensitive skin, you may be more likely to experience it as well.
  • Skin conditions: Conditions like eczema, rosacea, and psoriasis can make the skin more sensitive, as they weaken the skin barrier.
  • Environmental factors: Extreme weather conditions can exacerbate skin sensitivity. Pollution, UV exposure and excess humidity can contribute to irritation.
  • Harsh skincare products: Overuse of harsh skincare products, such as strong exfoliants or fragranced creams, can damage the skin barrier, leading to sensitivity.

Symptoms of sensitive skin

People with sensitive skin experience specific symptoms in the area of sensitivity that depend on the reason for sensitive skin, the time, and the care taken towards the area.

  • Redness: The skin appears flushed or irritated, especially after using certain skincare products or after exposure to environmental factors.
  • Burning or stinging: Sensitive skin may feel uncomfortable or painful after applying skincare products, especially those with active ingredients like acids or retinoids.
  • Dryness: The skin may feel dry, tight, or rough, even after moisturising, due to the impaired skin barrier.
  • Itching: Irritation can cause the skin to itch.
  • Flaking or peeling: In some cases, sensitive skin can flake or peel as a result of irritation, especially after exposure to certain ingredients or treatments.

Symptoms of sensitive skin

Why is sensitive skin vulnerable to aesthetic treatments?

Sensitive skin tends to react more strongly to products and treatments. This is due to the skin’s weakened barrier, which is unable to retain moisture as effectively and is more prone to irritation. When you undergo an aesthetic treatment the skin is often exposed to ingredients or equipment that can agitate it.

In individuals with sensitive skin, the skin may respond with increased redness, swelling, stinging, or burning.

This heightened sensitivity makes it crucial to choose treatments that are specifically designed to minimise potential reactions.

Are aesthetic treatments safe for sensitive skin?

When it comes to aesthetic treatments, people with sensitive skin can benefit from procedures like Dermal fillers, Botox, and Profhilo, but discussing your symptoms with your Aesthetic Doctor is not only recommended, but necessary.

Non-surgical aesthetic practitioners will be able to assess the condition of your skin and suggest the most appropriate treatments for your skin type, and whether it would be more suitable to avoid the affected area.

Some of the most popular treatments that you should discuss as options if you have sensitive skin include:

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are a popular non-surgical solution for adding volume to areas like the cheeks,  lips and around the eyes. They are composed of biocompatible substances like hyaluronic acid, which is naturally found in the skin.

Are dermal fillers safe for sensitive skin?

Yes, dermal fillers are generally safe for sensitive skin, but there are a few considerations. People with sensitive skin may experience slight swelling or bruising after the treatment, which is completely normal and temporary. However, the risk of more severe reactions is minimal when the procedure is carried out carefully by a trained professional.

If you have sensitive skin, your Aesthetic Doctor will take extra precautions to prevent agitating or worsening the condition of your skin. Aftercare is also important to avoid triggering inflammation or sensitivity.

Botox

Botox is a neurotoxin that temporarily relaxes muscles to smooth the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. It’s widely used to combat common signs of ageing like crow’s feet, forehead lines, and frown lines.

Is Botox safe for sensitive skin?

Botox is generally safe for sensitive skin, as it’s injected into the muscles and not directly into the upper layer of skin. However, people with highly sensitive skin may experience some temporary redness or swelling at the injection site. These reactions are typically mild and subside within a few hours.

One key benefit of Botox is that it’s a minimally invasive treatment with little downtime, making it ideal for sensitive skin that may be prone to irritation from more invasive procedures.

If you have a history of allergic reactions or skin conditions like rosacea, make sure to discuss your concerns with your practitioner.

Profhilo

Profhilo is an injectable treatment that delivers high concentrations of hyaluronic acid into the skin to improve hydration, skin elasticity, and overall texture. This treatment is an excellent option for those looking to rejuvenate their skin without the need for fillers or Botox, and actively remodels skin tissue to reverse the signs of ageing.

Is Profhilo suitable for sensitive skin?

Yes, Profhilo is generally safe for sensitive skin because it works to restore hydration and improve skin quality without the need for more invasive methods.

Since it primarily hydrates and stimulates collagen production, Profhilo can be a great choice for those with sensitive skin looking for a more natural, non-intrusive treatment. As with any injectable procedure, mild redness or swelling may occur, but these reactions are typically short lived.

Tips for people with sensitive skin seeking aesthetic treatments

If you have sensitive skin and are considering dermal fillers, Botox, or Profhilo, then it’s important you take the right steps to protect your skin throughout your facial aesthetics journey.

As you pursue treatment, make sure to always:

  1. Consult with an experienced practitioner: Always consult with a licensed professional who has experience working with sensitive skin. A thorough consultation will allow them to assess your skin type and recommend the most appropriate treatment.

An experienced doctor will never go ahead with treatment unless they are certain that it is safe and suitable for your unique skin. They will likewise be able to determine a safe alternative if the treatment you desire isn’t viable.

  1. Opt for lighter treatments: If you have sensitive skin, consider opting for less invasive treatments like Profhilo, which is gentle and focuses on skin hydration and rejuvenation. You may find that these treatments are of benefit to your skin by providing hydration.

  2. Follow aftercare instructions: Proper aftercare is crucial, especially for sensitive skin. Make sure to follow all post treatment instructions to avoid irritation or complications.

  3. Use soothing products: After treatment, use gentle and hydrating products to calm your skin. Avoid products with active ingredients like retinol or acids that could irritate the skin further.

  4. Avoid sun exposure: After any aesthetic treatment, protect your skin from sun exposure to prevent pigmentation and irritation.

At The LUXE Clinique, your safety and wellbeing is our top priority which is why every non-surgical aesthetic treatment begins with a consultation to discuss your needs and skin’s condition. We will also make sure that you are fully informed and comfortable with your chosen treatment before it goes ahead.

Dermal fillers are non-surgical injectable gels made of hyaluronic acid, a sugar molecule that occurs naturally in the body. They are commonly used as an anti-ageing treatment to help replace lost volume, but they can likewise be administered to enhance or soften facial features.

Alongside collagen and fat pads, hyaluronic acid makes up the building blocks of healthy facial tissue. As we age, the volume of this substance and natural fat support declines naturally, and restoring its volume reduces the signs of ageing. Dermal fillers, when applied by an experienced professional, creates a natural result that is both long-lasting and personalised to suit the unique contours of your facial profile.

At The LUXE Clinique, we are passionate about providing detailed and bespoke advice regarding dermal filler treatments, ensuring our patients understand what to expect before undergoing any enhancements and to keep you looking natural.

How do dermal fillers work?

Hyaluronic acid has grown in popularity as a filler and topical skincare ingredient. It is responsible for support and hydration, but declines naturally with age. With a good level of hyaluronic acid in your skin, you will retain elasticity, structure and moisture, as well as minimising the formation of wrinkles and sagging tissue.

Dermal fillers work by injecting  hyaluronic acid where it has declined, or boosting it to create a lifting effect.

This not only has an instant effect on your appearance, but also aids how you look during the natural ageing process.

What are dermal fillers used for?

Dermal fillers are a versatile facial aesthetic solution, and can be used to:

  • Enhance the appearance of cheeks, temples, jawline, nose, and chin.
  • Soften facial wrinkles, folds, or expression lines.
  • Restore volume in the hands.
  • Define or enhance lips, cheekbones and other desirable features.
  • Rejuvenate hollow eyes.
  • Improve the tone, texture and hydration levels in the skin.
  • Create symmetry in your facial features.

Where can dermal fillers be injected?

Dermal fillers can enhance a number of areas on the face and body. If you have concerns about an area of skin that seems dehydrated or is forming lines prematurely, speak with a non-surgical aesthetics Doctor to discuss your options.

Typically, dermal fillers are used in:

  • Lips
  • Cheeks
  • Temples
  • Jawline
  • Chin
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Marionette lines
  • Around the mouth – lip barcode lines
  • Decolletage
  • Forehead / Frown
  • Eyebrows
  • Ears
  • Hands

How are dermal fillers administered?

Medical professionals will either inject multiple controlled injections under the skin with a needle, or use one entry point to deliver fillers through a cannula (blunt dome shaped instrument).

Prior to the treatment, the area will be cleaned and you may have a topical anaesthetic applied.

How long do dermal fillers last?

Dermal fillers can last anywhere from 6-24 months, sometimes even longer. This fluctuates depending on the location of the filler, personal factors relating to your body’s metabolism, and the type of filler.

Dermal fillers are a temporary treatment, and you can book a repeat appointment to boost the results if the effect wears off or to maintain/build to your treatment goal.

Can dermal fillers be used alongside other treatments?

Dermal fillers can be used alongside other non-surgical aesthetic treatments such as Botox to enhance the results. However, it is important that you have a careful plan designed for your needs where the two treatments work in harmony with each other.

If you have recently received a treatment such as Botox and approach a different aesthetics practitioner for dermal filler injections, your new aesthetics doctor will need to be informed of the treatment so they can make the best decisions for your skin, with all the information of prior treatment.

You may find that your aesthetics doctor will suggest a treatment plan to create a natural look to match your goals. This will all be discussed in your consultation appointment.

Does hyaluronic acid cause any side effects?

Hyaluronic acid shouldn’t cause any significant adverse side effects if administered by a medical professional in a reputable clinic, because correct precautions should be taken prior to the procedure. Hyaluronic acid exists naturally in your body and is safe, but as with any product injected, there is always a risk with injections,  more so if undertaken by an inexperienced individual. It is common to have mild swelling, redness and possibly even a bruise after treatment, due to the fact a needle enters the skin to administer the product. Take this into account when planning your appointment and timeline for social engagements.

In addition, you should look out for the following complications:

  • The filler moving away from the treated area, causing an unwanted effect.
  • Unusual appearance of skin or blood vessels around the treated area.
  • Lumpy appearance under the skin that persists.

These can be a sign of an issue, so you should discuss this with your practitioner.

How much do dermal fillers cost?

The cost of dermal fillers varies depending on the number of syringes required, and whether you’re receiving a combined treatment or grade of filler.

Typically, treatment starts from £250-£400.

Are dermal fillers bad for you?

No, dermal fillers are not bad for you. Because they are made from hyaluronic acid, they are generally safe to administer, and will not be an issue if  you are fit and healthy with no underlying significant medical issues.

Are dermal fillers dangerous?

When administered by a medical professional, dermal fillers are not dangerous. However, because they are not regulated in the UK, finding a trained medical professional is essential. Also consider products that have been regulated by the US FDA, and not go for the plethora of cheap fillers offered at a discounted price in back street clinics.

Before you book a consultation, make sure you have the following information about your chosen practitioner:

  • Their experience and qualifications
  • The product they intend to use for your treatment
  • If they offer follow up should anything go wrong during or after your treatment

At The LUXE Clinique, your safety and wellbeing is our top priority, which is why every treatment begins with a consultation with our medical doctor to discuss your needs and review any medical condition before deciding on suitability for fillers.

We will also make sure that you are fully informed and comfortable with your chosen treatment before it goes ahead. We have over 15 years experience in delivering dermal filler treatments, so you should be confident in the products and results you will achieve.

For more information on what is included in your dermal filler treatment, take a look at our Skin Treatment Price List or Contact our Skin Clinic today.

The shape and definition of your chin can significantly influence your overall facial appearance. Whether you’re dealing with a recessed chin, lack of jawline definition, or skin laxity due to ageing, the good news is that there are various treatments available to enhance your chin’s shape.

At The LUXE Clinique, we understand the desire for balanced proportions of the chin and a defined jawline, which is why we offer quick and effective treatments to improve the shape of your chin.

Common reasons for chin enhancement

Improve facial proportions

A weak chin can significantly affect the balance of your facial features. The chin plays a crucial role in facial aesthetics by helping to define the lower third of the face. When the chin is underdeveloped or set back from the rest of the face, it can create the illusion of a larger nose or make the neckline appear less defined, or even add to the ”double chin” effect.

When the chin lacks definition, it can lead to a less harmonious facial profile and may even make other features, such as the cheeks or forehead, appear more pronounced.

Reduce the appearance of jowls

As we age, skin laxity and the loss of bone density can lead to the formation of jowls. By enhancing the chin, it’s possible to reduce the appearance of sagging skin and create a more youthful, defined jawline.

To create jawline definition

Chin augmentation, alongside other non-surgical aesthetic treatments, can create a more defined lower face, enhancing your features and shape of your face.

What causes a weak chin?

A weak chin is a cosmetic concern where the lower jaw sits further back in the face than the upper jaw. This results in the appearance of disproportion, particularly in your side profile.

Weak chins are caused by a number of genetic reasons including:

  • An existing or developing overbite
  • Natural facial bone structure
  • Congenital conditions present from birth

How Ageing Changes Your Chin Shape

As we age, several natural processes can affect the appearance and shape of the chin:

  • Loss of Bone Density: With age, the bones in the face, including the chin and jaw, may lose density and recess. This can cause the chin to appear less prominent and lead to a sagging jawline.
  • Decreased Skin Elasticity: As collagen and elastin production decreases, the skin begins to lose its firmness and elasticity. This can lead to sagging around the chin and jaw area, contributing to the appearance of jowls or a less defined jawline.
  • Fat Redistribution: Ageing often results in a shift in facial fat distribution, with more fat accumulating under the chin and around the jawline. This can result in a double chin or less distinct jawline definition.
  • Loss of Volume: Volume loss in the chin area can make the chin appear weaker and contribute to the ageing appearance of the lower face.

How to improve the shape of your chin

The treatment recommended for improving the shape of your chin will depend on the reason for your chin’s current shape.

1. Orthodontics

In some cases, a weak or poorly defined chin is caused by dental or skeletal issues, such as an underbite, overbite, or other misalignment problems in the teeth and jaw. For individuals with structural concerns, orthodontic treatments can be an effective solution for improving the chin’s appearance.

Orthodontic treatments, such as braces or clear aligners, can help correct the positioning of your teeth and jaw, which may have a positive effect on the appearance of the chin.

However, it’s important to note that orthodontics doesn’t directly add volume to the chin; it works by improving the positioning of the jaw, which is not the correct treatment for many with concerns about the shape of their chin.

2. Dermal fillers

If your chin lacks definition or projection, dermal fillers/non-surgical chin augmentation is a highly effective and non-invasive solution to reshape and enhance the chin area. Dermal fillers, which are usually made from hyaluronic acid (HA), can add volume, smooth contours, and restore balance to the lower face.

How Dermal Fillers Improve Chin Shape

How Dermal Fillers Improve Chin Shape

Adding volume: For those with a recessed or weak chin, dermal fillers can be injected into specific areas of the chin to add volume and bring the chin forward. This enhances chin projection, improving the balance between the chin, nose, and forehead. Often the length of the chin may be treated also for facial proportions.

Sculpting the jawline: Dermal fillers can be used not only to augment the chin but also to contour the jawline, creating sharper angles and a more defined profile. The chin and jawline are often treated together to give a better appearance.

Quick results: One of the main advantages of dermal fillers is that the procedure is quick and requires little to no recovery time. Results are immediate, with minimal swelling or bruising for possibly a few days.

Dermal fillers are an excellent option for individuals looking to enhance the shape of their chin without undergoing surgery. The procedure is quick, minimally invasive, and offers noticeable improvements in facial symmetry and definition.

3. Profhilo and Polynucleotides

Profhilo is a revolutionary treatment that uses high-concentration hyaluronic acid to improve skin quality, restore volume, and stimulate collagen production. While dermal fillers focus on adding volume to the chin, Profhilo focuses on improving the overall texture and tightness of the skin around the chin and jawline.

This is the most effective treatment for the late signs of ageing. Profhilo biologically remodels sagging skin, making it ideal for reducing the crepey skin around jowls.

Polynucleotides are fractions of DNA, that when injected, improve skin texture and stimulate collagen and elastin, and as a regenerative treatment, allows  your own body to stimulate repair. These polynucleotides can also be combined with hyaluronic acid to really rejuvenate the skin, and the benefit of polynucleotides are that they can be focally injected into areas that need more treatment.

At The LUXE Clinique, Dr. Robby Bajaj takes the time to assess your unique facial profile and recommend the most suitable treatment plan to achieve the results you desire. Whether you’re looking to restore volume, create a more defined jawline, or rejuvenate ageing skin, we offer a range of solutions that can enhance your chin shape.

If you’re considering or ready to improve the shape of your chin, contact us today to schedule a consultation and discover which treatment is right for you. Together, we can help you achieve a more balanced, youthful and confident appearance.

Ageing is a natural process that affects all parts of our body, but it is often most visible on our face. Over time, our skin loses elasticity and volume, leading to wrinkles, sagging, and other signs of ageing.

Thankfully, modern aesthetic treatments offer a range of solutions to combat these changes and help restore and enhance your facial profile. One of the most popular and effective treatments is the use of dermal fillers, a treatment that The LUXE Clinique specialises in.

Ageing and facial features

As we age, several key changes occur in our face. Understanding these changes is essential to appreciate how dermal fillers can restore individual features to rejuvenate the appearance of your facial profile:

Cheeks

As we age, the volume of natural fat pads in our cheeks begins to break down causing a sunken appearance that diminishes the V shape associated with youth.

This volume loss can make the face look tired and aged. Additionally, the skin loses its elasticity, leading to sagging, laxity and the enhancement of nasolabial folds (lines running from the nose to the corners of the mouth).

Dermal Fillers Solution:

Dermal fillers can be used to restore lost volume to the cheeks by providing structural support.

Through the application of strategic injections into the outer and middle portion of the face, fillers can re-establish the slender contour along your cheekbones, reduce the appearance of nasolabial folds and lift the natural tissues.

When applied alongside other treatments, cheek enhancement can result in a more balanced facial shape.

Temples

The temples are often overlooked in discussions about ageing, but they too experience volume loss over time. Often, this results in a hollow or sunken appearance that is distinct from other indicators of tiredness.

Volume loss in the temples can also affect the overall harmony of the face, as the transition between the forehead and the rest of the face becomes less smooth.

Dermal Fillers Solution

Injecting dermal fillers into the temples can restore lost volume, creating a smoother and more youthful shape. This subtle enhancement can significantly improve the overall balance and proportion of the face. The procedure can also help lift the outer corners of the eyebrows and reduce crow’s feet, providing a more open and refreshed appearance to the eyes.

Jawline

The jawline is impacted by many complex changes throughout the process of ageing including bone loss, fat redistribution and skin laxity. Many people believe that the loss of volume in this area combined with the laxity to be the most devastating difference in their appearance.

A defined jawline is often associated with a youthful contoured face, and dermal fillers can be used to both restore and enhance this facial feature to allow you to feel more confident.

Dermal Fillers Solution

Dermal fillers can be used to sculpt and contour the jawline. By injecting fillers along the jawline, medical practitioners can create sharpness, reducing the appearance of sagging skin and jowls.

Jawline contouring can likewise be applied to add definition and structure if you are unhappy with the natural shape of your jaw.

AtThe LUXE Clinique, we provide Jawline Contouring that is achieved through accurate placement of an appropriately selected hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal filler at the angle of the jaw, to generate a balanced facial profile from all angles.

Dermal Fillers Solution

Nose

The nose can undergo several changes with age, including a loss of definition, the appearance of bumps or indentations, and a downward shift of the nasal tip. These changes can affect the overall harmony of the face and make other signs of ageing more pronounced.

Dermal Fillers Solution

Dermal fillers offer a safe and effective way to address minor imperfections in the nose without the need for surgery. Fillers can be used to smooth out bumps, enhance the bridge, and create a more symmetrical and balanced appearance.

This procedure can significantly reduce imbalances in the facial features, providing a more attractive and youthful look.

Chin

A weak chin refers to a chin that is set back into the face which is not desirable in a female facial profile. This can be caused by many factors including genetics and the effects of a traumatic injury or surgical intervention.

Volume loss and skin laxity can further exacerbate a weak chin.

Dermal Fillers Solution

Dermal fillers can be used to enhance the projection and shape of the chin, providing better facial symmetry. By strategically injecting fillers into the chin area, practitioners can create a more proportional profile. This enhancement can complement other facial features, and naturally boost the appearance of the lips and cheeks.

However, if a weak chin is caused by a significant change to bone structure of your jaw, then it may be more appropriate to seek  surgery before consulting a non-surgical doctor about dermal fillers.

Lips

It is widely acknowledged that lips have been the object of desire throughout history and, as such, thin or ageing lips can decrease confidence and a simple non-surgical filler in this area can lift the entire appearance of the face.

Unfortunately, lips are particularly susceptible to thinning over time as well as the development of fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth.

Dermal Fillers Solution

Dermal fillers can add volume and definition to the lips creating fullness and restoring their youthful appearance if ageing is your primary concern. Additionally, fillers can smooth out fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth, resulting in a more rejuvenated and attractive look.

The Benefits of Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers offer numerous benefits for individuals looking to enhance their facial features and combat the signs of ageing.

Here are some of the key advantages of seeking a professional doctor for dermal fillers:

  1. Non-Surgical:

Dermal fillers provide a non-surgical option for facial enhancement, allowing individuals to achieve significant improvements without the need for invasive procedures or lengthy recovery times. To ensure you achieve the balanced outcome you desire and to manage any potential complications, you need an experienced medical practitioner.

  1. Quick Procedure:

Dermal filler treatments are relatively quick and convenient, often taking only 30 minutes to an hour to complete depending on the number of injections required. This makes them an ideal option for individuals with busy schedules.

  1. Natural-Looking Results:

When performed by skilled practitioners, dermal filler treatments can provide natural-looking results that enhance the individual’s unique features without appearing overdone or artificial.

  1. Minimal Downtime:

Most individuals can resume their normal activities immediately after a dermal filler treatment. There may be some minor swelling or bruising, but these side effects are usually temporary and resolve quickly.

Customisable Treatments:

Dermal fillers can be tailored to meet the specific needs and goals of each individual. Whether you are looking to restore volume, smooth out wrinkles, or enhance facial contours, dermal fillers can be customised to achieve your desired results.

At The LUXE Clinique, we offer a number of dermal filler treatments to enhance individual or multiple facial features to enhance your facial profile. Your safety and wellbeing is our top priority which is why every treatment begins with a consultation to discuss your needs and medical background. We will also make sure that you are fully informed and comfortable with your chosen treatment before it goes ahead.

What is a gummy smile?

A gummy smile is known medically as excessive gingival display. It refers to smiles where too much gum tissue shows above the top teeth and below the upper lip when a person smiles.

Around 15% of people have a gummy smile.

At The LUXE Clinique, we understand that the desire for a perfect smile is a matter of confidence, which is why we offer quick and effective treatments for gummy smiles.

What causes a gummy smile?

A gummy smile can occur for a number of reasons:

  • Abnormal eruption of the teeth
  • Excessive gum tissue over the teeth
  • Overactive upper lip muscles
  • Short upper lip

Gummy smiles cannot be prevented, but measures can be taken to lower the positioning of the top lip so that it sits closer to the top of the teeth.

How to treat a gummy smile

Orthodontic procedures

If the reason for gummy smile is abnormal tooth eruption, then it is possible to be fixed through orthodontic procedures. For example, if there is misalignment in your jaw or teeth, orthodontists can create a specialised plan to fix these issues, so please see a Dentist.

These procedures can be combined with non-surgical aesthetic injections performed by an experienced cosmetic Doctor for a more even looking smile.

Botox Injections

Botox injections can be injected into the muscles that run alongside the nose, and extend to the skin of the lip, known as the Yonsei Point. Injecting Botox relaxes this intersection of muscles so your lip will not raise as dramatically when you smile, reducing the amount of exposed gum.

This procedure is a gentler alternative to surgical alterations, and can be performed in very little time with minimal recovery time. The results can be seen within a week.

Lip enhancement

Although not suggested solely as a treatment for a gummy smile, dermal fillers can be used alongside Botox to enhance the appearance of a short upper lip, further reducing the amount of gum on display when you smile.

How long does it take to treat a gummy smile?

Botox procedures can take 10-20 minutes to administer.. If you have overactive muscles around the lip, then more injections may be needed but this will not add much more time to the appointment.

This makes it a quick process that can easily be slotted into your daily schedule.

During your consultation with a medical professional, you will be able to ask for more information on the duration of your personal procedure.

Dr Robby Bajaj is an accredited doctor in non-surgical aesthetics and will provide you with a tailored plan to correct a gummy smile.

Book your consultation today.

+91 8920219690 | info@londoncityskinclinic.com

Will I see results immediately?

It takes 2-3 days to see the effects of Botox, but full results occur within 10-14 days following treatment.

How long will the results last?

The effects of Botox last for around 3-4 months following treatment.

It is recommended that you repeat treatment at around 4 months for cumulative benefits and longer lasting results if you are pleased with your appearance.

Treatment aftercare

During the first two days of healing:

  • Avoid rubbing or massaging the treated area

What are lip lines?

Lip lines (also known as smokers lines) are vertical lines that extend from the lip border to the nose, but they can also affect the bottom lip. They are more noticeable in women and grow in prominence as you age.

At The LUXE Clinique, we often treat the whole area around the mouth including lip lines, so we know how to reduce their appearance and prevent them from becoming a distraction.

What causes vertical lip lines?

Vertical lip lines are caused by repeated facial expressions, thinning of the lips, and changes to the skin around the mouth as you age.

Over time, your skin naturally loses collagen and elastin, essential proteins that keep the skin supported, hydrated and healthy. As they break down, lip lines can form due to the lack of flexibility or support in your facial tissue.

Lip lines can be brought on prematurely by various causes like:

  • Smoking: Repeated lip pursing movements and natural damage to collagen that cigarette toxins cause
  • Overexposure to UV rays/pollution: UV radiation causes cellular damage to skin leading to premature lines and wrinkle formation
  • Genetic factors: Some people have a genetic predisposition to premature ageing

How to prevent lip lines

The only way to prevent vertical lip lines is to maintain good habits early, and by keeping your skin healthy, you can lessen their severity. To keep your skin youthful and aid its collagen and elastin production, you should practise the following advice in your skincare routine:

  • Reduce your alcohol intake
  • Avoid smoking
  • Drink the recommended volume of water daily of at least 1.5L-2L
  • Apply anti-oxidant Vit C serums, SPF and topical moisturiser every day
  • Take care of your lip health
  • Prioritise sleep and stress management to help premature ageing

When to treat lip lines

The most effective way to treat vertical lip lines is to seek professional treatment early. Once they have become deep, it can be difficult to smooth them out, or get rid of them completely.

By seeking early treatment from a professional aesthetic doctor, you can ensure the area is attended to, before the lines get too deep.

If you are concerned about the formation of lip lines, you should seek treatment as soon as possible.

Dr Robby Bajaj is an accredited doctor in non-surgical aesthetics and will provide you with a tailored plan to reduce the appearance of vertical lip lines.

How to treat lip lines

How to treat lip lines

Botox

Botox can be used to treat vertical lip lines.

Small doses can relax the muscles around your mouth, reducing repetitive actions that lead to deep line formation. This can soften lines once they have formed, but is best used early or in combination with other treatment modalities for best results.

Dermal Fillers

One of the first treatments we will suggest for vertical lip lines is the application of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) dermal fillers. This non-surgical aesthetic treatment can easily treat lip lines and support the area around the mouth.

By using micro-droplets of soft dermal fillers, aesthetic doctors can gently fill the lip lines and provide vital structure to the lip area. They will work alongside your body’s natural production of elastin and collagen to soften and hydrate the tissues that make up the foundation of healthy skin.

If appropriate, your doctor may suggest HA dermal filler injections in the lip border to provide shape and support for the lips.

Polynucleotides

Polynucleotides are ultra purified fractions of DNA derived from salmon or trout, that when injected, stimulate new collagen production and can retexturise skin, leading to a rejuvenated hydrated appearance. These can be pure polynucleotides, or even combined with hyaluronic acid to help boost hydration in more aged mature skin.

Does lip line treatment hurt?

Some people may find treatment mildly uncomfortable as we use a fine needle to administer. If necessary, your doctor will apply a topical numbing cream/ice to improve your comfort throughout the procedure.

How long will treatment last?

This will depend on whether you have been prescribed Botox, dermal filler or Polynucleotide treatment

Soft dermal filler treatment lasts anywhere from 6-12 months, and Botox treatment lasts 3-4 months depending on various factors. We suggest booking a proper treatment assessment with a practitioner where they will be able to create a full treatment plan based on your concerns, and give you advice on when to return for a booster treatment. Polynucleotides are a regenerative treatment, so require a course of 2-3 to stimulate the process, and a 6 monthly maintenance.

How much does treatment cost?

The cost of treating lip lines will depend on the number of injections required to meet your desired result, and whether you are seeking treatment in isolation or as part of other rejuvenation procedures.

However, treatments typically start at:

  • Botox: From £205
  • Dermal Fillers: From £275
  • Polynucleotides: From £300

If you’re seeking the revolutionary effects of non-surgical aesthetics to prevent or treat vertical lip lines/smokers lines, then The LUXE Clinique can create a personalised treatment plan for you.

Frown lines, etched between our brows, often tell tales of a life well lived, but for many, they can also become a source of concern, particularly as frowning can be associated with a negative emotion of looking angry. At The LUXE Clinique, we believe in helping you look your best as you age, so treating and preventing  deep frown lines, can be one of the first steps towards keeping your frown smooth.

But, how can we achieve this?

What Causes Frown Lines?

Frown lines (glabella lines) are caused by repeated movements of the surrounding muscles. This can be furrowing of the nose, tightening eyebrows or forehead muscles squeezing.

The only causes of frown lines are strong muscles and repetitive movement, but there are several factors that can increase the speed at which they appear. These include:

  • Sun damage
  • Natural ageing
  • Smoking
  • Stress
  • Genetics

This is because the mentioned factors negatively impact skin quality. Frown lines will become progressively more prominent over time.

Frown Line Prevention

Because frown lines occur naturally as the result of facial expressions, the only way to prevent them from appearing is to seek revolutionary treatments such as Botox, which reduces muscle activity.

When to Treat Frown Lines

The most effective way to treat frown lines is to seek treatment early. Once they have become established, it becomes difficult to smooth them out completely.

The best results are achieved when the area is attended to before the lines get too deep.

How to Get Rid of Frown Lines

How to Get Rid of Frown Lines

Anti-Wrinkle Treatment

Frown lines are caused when the eyebrow muscles are pulled taut inwards and downwards towards the eyes.

Controlled Botox injections can be introduced directly into the affected area, blocking the chemical messenger between the muscle and the nerve that causes it to contract. For a period of 3-4 months, the muscles will remain relaxed, which prevents the development of frown lines and softens existing creases.

Botulinum toxin injections are especially effective in the prevention of frown lines.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal Fillers can be utilised in addition to Botox when a residual crease remains, after the effects of muscle relaxation have occurred.

By injecting hyaluronic acid (HA) into the affected area, lost volume can be restored to generate a more relaxed, youthful appearance. Their primary application of softening facial wrinkles and folds makes them ideal for treating frown lines, as well as maintaining structure and hydration, which can reduce the chances of frown lines returning soon after treatment.

Dermal Fillers create natural results, and break down into the body slowly, removing the requirement for permanent fillers.

Dr. Robby Bajaj can create Advanced Skincare programmes to cater to your skin’s needs, and this goes beyond the application of high quality cosmetics. In order to fully restore your skin to its youthful state, a full consultation appointment is provided to discuss any concerns you might have, or specific requirements, blemishes or other imperfections that you wish to correct.

If you’re seeking the revolutionary effects of non-surgical aesthetics to prevent or treat the development of frown lines, then you’re guaranteed to be in safe hands at The LUXE Clinique. We want you to feel completely comfortable throughout the full treatment process, from your initial consultation through to any maintenance treatments you receive.

The signs of tiredness can transform the appearance of your face and may not reflect how you really feel. But what makes you look tired? The eyes…

It is common for women to cover the eye area with make-up rather than addressing the source of the problem, but by confronting the causes of why you look tired, you can gain more confidence and even adopt a healthier lifestyle overall.

By following these tips from The LUXE Clinique, you can rehabilitate your skin from the surface to deeper layers.

Why do I look tired?

The features of your face are prone to looking tired for a number of reasons, most of which don’t necessarily relate to lack of sleep. In reality, lifestyle choices, genetic factors, and health concerns can all foster a tired appearance.

It is therefore vital to identify the causes, before the correct solution can be provided:

  1. Sleep

Signs that you might be sleep deprived are present in behaviour as well as physical appearance. For example, feeling burnt out in the afternoon, requiring an alarm clock to wake, dependency on caffeinated drinks, increased irritability, and feeling drowsy in warm rooms or following meals are all indicative of inadequate sleep.

  1. Stress

Stress increases your body’s production of cortisol which blocks your skin from producing hyaluronic acid and collagen. These are what keeps the skin plump and youthful.

The symptoms of stress likewise impact lifestyle habits that lead to tired looking skin.

  1. Incorrect skincare routine

Build up of dead skin, lack of exfoliation and uninformed make-up routine can be the reason why your skin looks dull.

  1. Dehydration

When you’re dehydrated, the natural level of moisture beneath your skin declines which causes skin to look tired.

  1. Eye strain

When you strain your eyes, the blood vessels around them dilate which exacerbates dark circles. This is one of the most commonly recognised signs of tiredness.

  1. Genetics

Some people can be genetically predisposed to varying factors that impact the quality of skin. These include vein prominence or hyperpigmentation around the eyes that cause dark circles, bone structure which determines hollowness and the shape of your tear trough (shadow under the eye), and allergies which increase the production of histamine which results in expanded blood vessels and puffiness.

  1. Ageing

As you age, you lose skin elasticity, moisture and volume. Also the descent of facial fat pads and volume changes in the mid-face and eye area may lead to the appearance of hollows, grooves and “eye bags”.

Signs of tired skin

  1. Swollen eyes

Puffiness around the eyes is usually one of the first signs of tiredness. It appears as the swelling of both eyelids and is often accompanied by prominent blood vessels and redness in the eyes. As fat pads also move, “eye bags” start to develop and cause swelling under the eye.

  1. Dark circles under the eyes

Tiredness in the skin can appear as dark or hollow tear troughs. Tear troughs are the grooves that sit between the lower eyelid and the cheek, and are prone to looking worse  with tiredness. Over time, tear troughs deepen and may even extend into the cheek, which exacerbates the appearance of dark circles.

  1. Dull skin

Tiredness can result in dull skin. This is because an exhausted body cannot function as well as a well rested body and this extends to immune function and skin health.

  1. Fine lines

Lack of sleep is linked to dull, dry skin and a reduction in the production of collagen. This breakdown of elasticity can be responsible for premature signs of ageing, as well as the development of crows feet, smile lines and other fine lines.

How to stop looking tired

There are several things you can do to reduce the signs of tiredness in your skin:

Lifestyle adjustments

Adjust your sleep schedule

If your skin is looking tired, the first thing you should do is take a look at your sleep schedule. It is recommended that adults have 7-9 hours of sleep every night, so ensure you go to bed at a reasonable hour that is dependent on your lifestyle.

Avoiding the temptation to oversleep can likewise have the same impact.

To correct your sleeping pattern, stick to the following advice:

  • Set a regular bedtime
  • Avoid using screens before bed: Blue light makes your mind active rather than tired
  • Drink less caffeine: Caffeine is another contributor to premature ageing and disrupts your natural body clock
  • Avoid naps more than 20 mins in the day
  • Get up at the same time every day, and get a morning walk outside to regulate your body clock
  • Exercise regularly throughout the week
  • Avoid eating 3 hours before bedtime
  • Speak to a GP if your sleep is disrupted by factors other than the ones mentioned above

Reduce stress

It is easier said than done, but identifying areas that generate excess stress and anxiety in your life, as well as finding ways to alleviate them should be your top priority when adjusting your skincare routine. Consider yoga, meditation, mindfulness and breathing techniques to optimise your response to stress.

Establish a regular exercise routine

Exercising regularly can:

  • Increase circulation and blood flow to the skin
  • Boost collagen production
  • Reduce stress levels that contribute to poor skin health
  • Help promote healthy sleeping patterns
  • Improve overall skin tone
  • Promote new cell growth and regeneration

Drink plenty of water

Whilst applying moisturiser to your skin daily can aid your skin quality at a surface level, making sure you drink a suitable amount of water every day will also have an effect.

Moisture

It is important to also choose skin products that are not just based on moisturisers alone, as your skin will just become reliant on moisturisers. To improve hydration in the skin you should encourage healthy skin with a dedicated skin care routine to stimulate healthy skin. It is also advised to avoid smoking and moderate consumption of alcohol.

Leading non-surgical aesthetics

Botox

Botox is most often used on the upper face, around the eyes and some areas of the lower face.

Botox can be used to treat several symptoms related to tired features, by rejuvenating the skin. Its revolutionary techniques smooth the signs of ageing including tired-looking eyes from wrinkle formation, and reducing the premature development of fine lines and wrinkles.

Botox is prescription-only treatment and must be prescribed for a patient by a medically qualified practitioner.

For further information, take a look at our guide on How To Reduce Wrinkles and Fine Lines.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal Fillers are a soft tissue hyaluronic acid based filler that are injected into the skin to soften fine lines, contour features and add structural support. Dermal fillers can be injected into the tear trough area directly. This is because the tear trough has very little support except for muscle and bone, so the hollow appearance can be rejuvenated and careful application of dermal filler can be very effective in the correct circumstances. It is always better to have an in-person assessment to understand your suitability to this treatment.

Dermal fillers improve hydration and volume within the foundations of facial tissue, and are fast becoming one of the most sought after methods of reducing the signs of dull, tired skin. When done in conjunction with cheek fillers, which act as the supporting structure for the eye area, your face can appear refreshed and more youthful.

Polynucleotides

Polynucleotides are fast becoming an important tool in facial aesthetics, particularly for areas that need stimulation. What are polynucleotides?

Polynucleotides are DNA fragments (usually extracted from salmon), that can bio-stimulate positive changes in the skin. What this means is that skin gets stimulated to turnover quicker, produce elastin, reduce fine lines, improve micro-circulation, reduce dark circles, plump the skin and reduce hollowness under the eyes. This is particularly important in the under-eye area, as dermal fillers may not be suitable for everyone, so this provides another tool to help the delicate skin in the area.

AtThe LUXE Clinique, we can create a bespoke treatment plan according to your needs. Dr. Robby Bajaj is highly experienced in developing Advanced Skin Care and non-surgical injectable programmes that cater to your skin, and this goes beyond the application of high quality cosmetics to hide your skin concerns.

Traditionally, facelifts have been associated with invasive procedures involving incisions, tissue manipulation, and extensive recovery periods. However, advancements in cosmetic treatments have given rise to non-surgical alternatives that offer rejuvenation without the need for surgery.

Join The LUXE Clinique as we delve into the world of non-surgical facelifts, exploring the benefits of non-surgical options against surgical facelifts, and explaining how you can consider facial rejuvenation without the need for invasive operations.

Can you get a facelift without surgery?

Yes, and in most cases it is actually safer to access a non-surgical facelift than a surgical facelift. The traditional surgical method may lift tissues and skin more, but if you are looking to address ageing by evolution rather than revolution, carefully considered non-surgical cosmetic treatment may look more natural.

Non-surgical techniques are now so advanced that they can almost achieve surgical type results, but this does depend on the degree of skin laxity in the lower face and neck area.

What is a non-surgical facelift?

A non-surgical facelift is a combination of procedures designed to lift your facial features and restore your youthful appearance. These may include different treatment modalities such as volumising dermal fillers, Botulinum Toxin and energy based devices. Non-surgical facelifts are renowned for their ability to lift your features without the need for surgery. When an experienced practitioner has done a full facial assessment and photography, they should be able to discuss with you the best treatment options for your desired outcome and budget.

Follow our blog: What Does a Non-Surgical Facelift Involve for updated information on all areas of non-surgical facelifts from recovery time to complications.

Why should you choose a non-surgical facelift

Why should you choose a non-surgical facelift

  1. More comfortable

Traditional facelift surgery involves making incisions on the face that can be painful and take extended periods of time to recover from. Non-surgical facelifts on the other hand involve a series of non-invasive injections of treatments like Botulinum Toxin and dermal fillers.

Recovery will also be far more comfortable because you’re not waiting for surgical wounds to heal.

  1. Shorter recovery time

Traditional facelifts can take a couple of weeks or even a month to heal. This means you may be limited in day-to-day activities like going to work, exercising and applying make-up for this period of time. However, there is less downtime following a non-surgical facelift – you will only need to follow a few simple aftercare instructions for 24 hours but return to work is possible the next day.

  1. Less risk of scarring

Although surgical aesthetics has advanced significantly in previous years, there is still a risk of scarring from the procedure. Although incisions are often hidden in the hairline or behind the ear, it is difficult to completely disguise scarring on such a visible area of the body. Because non-surgical facelifts use non-invasive techniques, the risk of scarring is reduced.

It is likely that you will only experience scarring from non-surgical aesthetics if there are complications with the procedure but if you seek the services of a highly trained professional, this is less likely to happen.

  1. Greater versatility

With non-surgical facelifts, you can address your face more holistically, taking into account different features and proportions to create a youthful, natural appearance. However, it is important to be mindful of your Doctor’s recommendations as they will be able to recommend the most appropriate treatments that work with your existing contours.

  1. More natural results

It isn’t always the case but sometimes surgical facelifts can create results that look unnatural, particularly as skin is stretched back. Whilst this can be the desired result for some, it is not what most are attempting to achieve with aesthetic procedures.

With non-surgical aesthetics, we use products that reposition and stimulate the existing tissues, collagen and hydration levels in your skin which generates natural looking results that define your beauty rather than reshape it.

  1. Temporary results

The results achieved from non-surgical facelifts are temporary, giving you the opportunity to alter the results at your next appointment if you are not entirely satisfied. It also means that they will reverse by themselves without the need for further surgery or removal of implants.

How to achieve a non-surgical facelift

How to achieve a non-surgical facelift

In order to achieve a facelift without surgery, you would need to attend an appointment with a trained medical professional who can create a treatment plan that is bespoke to your needs. However, you can also help your skin by following the below steps:

  1. Adopt a Comprehensive Skincare Routine

One of the fundamental steps towards retaining a natural lift in your features is to establish a comprehensive skincare routine.

Begin by cleansing your face daily, followed by toning to restore the skin’s pH balance. Incorporate serums and creams containing potent anti-aging ingredients like retinol, hyaluronic acid, and vitamin C to target fine lines, wrinkles, and dullness.

Regular exfoliation helps remove dead skin cells and encourages cellular turnover, revealing a brighter and smoother complexion.

  1. Facial Massage

Facial massage increases blood circulation, stimulates collagen production, and helps reduce puffiness and fluid retention. You can use your fingertips or specialised facial massage tools to gently massage your face in upward and outward motions for optimal results.

  1. Dermal Fillers and Injectables

Dermal fillers and injectables are minimally invasive procedures that can effectively address targeted volume loss and deep wrinkles. By injecting hyaluronic acid or collagen-stimulating substances into targeted areas, these treatments can restore lost volume, plump up the skin, and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

While the effects are temporary, lasting several months to a year, they provide a natural-looking enhancement without the need for surgery.

  1. Non-surgical facelift atThe LUXE Clinique

Non-surgical facelift techniques are constantly evolving, and at The LUXE Clinique, you can be assured we are constantly adapting to the new products and techniques in this area. If you would like to discover how the vast benefits of a non-surgical facelift can restore your appearance and wellbeing, book your consultation today.

Your skin is the body’s largest organ and will only glow when it functions as a unit. There are different layers, and therefore the way cells communicate, rate of cell turnover, collagen production, healthy bacteria maintenance and the natural balance of acids are all important.

Only with a healthy functioning system can our skin truly glow. So, when certain elements are lacking, the skin can become dull, and even have less protection from external damage and accelerate the signs of ageing.

At The LUXE Clinique, we are passionate about the rehabilitation of skin health to restore confidence as well as skin quality. From internal tissue to the surface layer, your skin will benefit from our tips on how to rejuvenate dull skin.

What is healthy skin?

  • Soft and smooth in texture
  • Full, firm and tight
  • Even in colour
  • Naturally hydrated from within
  • Tolerant to the surrounding environment
  • Free from active disease

What causes dull skin?

Dull skin is caused by a wide variety of factors including genetic factors, lifestyle choices, dehydration and UV radiation. It is common for skin to appear dull when the cells within your skin are not healthy or optimised to regulate its own hydration and cell turnover.

It’s important to understand factors that affect the appearance of the skin:

COLOUR

THICKNESS: Thick, medium, thin

OILINESS: Oily, normal, dry

ELASTICITY: Lax or firm

FRAGILITY: Proper or improper healing

Other causes of dull skin include:

  • Build up of dead skin cells
  • Ageing
  • Sun damage

Dry and dull skin is vulnerable to environmental and bacterial damage as it cannot effectively protect itself unless it functions properly.

What causes dull skin

How to rejuvenate dull skin

Lifestyle habits

  1. Engage a healthy sleep routine

When your body is tired, it loses its ability to take care of itself. This can lead to lower turnover of dead skin cells, lower blood supply delivered to the outer layers of skin and signs of premature ageing.

  • Avoid eating before bedtime
  • Speak to a GP if your sleep is disrupted by factors other than the ones mentioned above
  1. Stay hydrated

One of the greatest contributors to dull skin is a lack of hydration. Whilst applying moisturiser to your skin daily can aid your skin quality at a surface level, making sure you drink a suitable amount of water every day will also have an effect. It is important to also choose skin products that are not just based on moisturisers alone, as your skin will just become reliant on moisturiser.

To improve hydration in the skin you should also avoid regular smoking and excessive consumption of alcohol.

  1. Exercise

Although not commonly thought of as a solution to poor skin health, exercise can have an overwhelming impact on your skin’s natural glow.

Exercising regularly can:

  • Increase circulation and blood flow to the skin
  • Boost collagen production levels
  • Reduce stress levels that contribute to poor skin health
  • Help promote healthy sleeping rhythms
  • Improve overall skin tone
  • Promote new cell growth and regeneration

To prevent acne and other associated skin problems when exercising, it is important to:

  • Avoid touching your face during activities
  • Wash your face immediately after exercising to remove excess sweat and dirt
  • Use a light moisturiser or cleanser after cleaning
  • Wear a strong waterproof SPF when exercising outside
  1. Include the right nutrients in your diet

The processes that keep skin physiologically healthy rely on key nutrients in the diet. To help restore skin, cut down on:

  • Sugary food
  • Alcohol
  • Nicotine
  • Processed meats
  • Fatty meats

Instead, consume foods that contain:

  • Essential fatty acids
  • Omega 3
  • Lean protein
  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin A
  1. Wash at a cooler temperature

Hot water can seem harmless but overexposure to hot water or steam can strip your skin of its natural oils. Without them, your skin will become dry, irritated and lose its glow.

Topical skincare products

Topical skincare products

Topical skincare products treat the surface layers of skin, but also if your skin is treated correctly, you will also be able to absorb active skin products better to create a glow from within. When you select products with high quality ingredients that stimulate the natural processes that your skin needs,  you can achieve attractive results.

  1. Cleansers and exfoliators

Cleaning your skin may sound obvious, but this needs to be done morning and night. There are options of gentle or hydrating cleansers, but exfoliating cleansers are also helpful to slough off dead skin cells at the surface, so should be incorporated at least twice weekly.

  1. 2. Toner and oil control

The level of sebum/oil in your skin should be controlled, and the correct toners help to remove excessive oil and restore the pH of your skin.

  1. Vitamin C Serum

Vitamin C is a nutrient rich antioxidant commonly used for its anti-aging and revitalising properties. It helps neutralise free radicals and  repair DNA skin damage, brighten the skin and provide a much needed protection from environmental pollutants and UV damage.

  1. Hydrators

Hydrators promote the regulation of the skin’s normal moisture level, as opposed to rich moisturisers. Many people are solely reliant on moisturisers for their “glow”, but end up being reliant on it and actually have duller skin underneath (consider sole use of a moisturiser as a product that may just sit on dead skin cells if other steps are not taken).

Hyaluronic Acid Products

Hyaluronic acid is a sugar molecule that lubricates joints and tissues. It keeps skin hydrated and is the basis for many non-surgical aesthetic treatments like Dermal Fillers and Profhilo.

It is now possible to buy specialised Hyaluronic acid serums, cleansers and moisturisers for the face that rehydrates the top layer of skin if it isn’t receiving enough water.

  1. UV protection

SPF protecting against UVA and UVB is very important all year round, as UVA even penetrates cloud and glass, and leads to skin ageing. Sun damage leads to pigmentation therefore uneven skin tone, and accelerates collagen and elastin breakdown. Never forget to protect your skin with a shield of SPF, minimum factor 30 every day!

  1. Retinoids

Retinol is a Vitamin A derivative, and important to turn skin cells over faster to allow healthy skin to appear at the surface of the skin. It also helps with fine lines, pigmentation and an overall skin glow, with the added benefit of  thickening of the upper layer of the skin. Retinol is applied at night, and leads to a healthy skin appearance with consistent use.

*Do not take Retinoids if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or planning to get pregnant. There are some anticipated early effects such as dryness and mild irritation, but this can be minimised by starting gradually under the advice of your healthcare practitioner.*

The mentioned products, whilst impactful, will help with dull skin, but only after customising your skin care programme and with consistent use daily. For long term results, it is recommended that you also adjust your lifestyle habits and may also seek the restorative powers of non-surgical aesthetic treatments.

Retinoids

Restorative non-surgical aesthetics

The cause of dull skin is typically underlying and one of the most effective treatments is to inject naturally occuring proteins and hydrating agents into the skin that allow it to regain its existing function.

AtThe LUXE Clinique, we offer the following treatments that restore balance to your skin and the underlying tissues with natural results:

  1. Skin Revitalisation/Skin Boosters

Dermal Fillers improve the tone, texture and hydration of skin.

This involves injecting Hyaluronic acid into the skin to reform the building blocks of healthy skin tissue. Hyaluronic acid binds to water in the skin, locking in moisture. It has been used safely in medical applications for many years.

Injected hyaluronic acid is slowly broken down in the body, and when skilfully used the results are subtle and will look natural.

Our Skin Revitalisation/Skin Boosters instantly restore lost volume from within, acting as a reservoir for hydration in a way moisturisers and cleansers cannot.

  1. Profhilo

Profhilo is an innovative treatment that treats skin laxity and promotes hydration. Boasting one of the highest concentrations of Hyaluronic acid on the market, it is designed to actively remodel skin by stimulating 4 different types of collagen fibres, whilst also intensely hydrating the skin tissue to improve its appearance and glow.

Profhilo uses the ability to stimulate new collagen to give your skin a whole new lease of life by remodelling the skin. Results last up to six months.
